New Library website: 6 languages & new URL

Friday 29 July 2016

Topics: Resources

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library is launching its new website in six official UN languages! It features expanded multilingual content, an improved search, and a fresh “vintage modern” look.

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library, located at UN Headquarters in New York, facilitates the work of the United Nations by supporting the professional information and research needs of the UN Secretariat and diplomatic missions. The Library also provides research assistance to the general public and researchers on matters related to the UN and its documentation. These far-flung groups most frequently use the Library’s services via the website.

As part of the Library’s strategy to deliver more online content about the UN in all six languages, we’ve added dozens of new Research Guides - in French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Arabic - with more in the pipeline. Research Guides are the recommended place to start research on over 70 UN topics, including international law, UN documents, and the work of UN bodies.

Likewise, we increased the number of entries in our Ask DAG database of commonly-asked questions about the UN. There are now over 400 FAQs in French, Spanish, and English.

The new website can be found at a new URL,
